Key words (keywords) are words or phrases indicating the content of the page. In positioning – keywords will be called words and phrases that Internet users enter a query in the search engines.
Keyword selection is one of the most important steps towards positioning the site. Because of it we gain traffic to the site and future customers of our company. Keywords should accurately describe the subject matter and the parties positioned information or products contained therein. It is not always so, that the best positioning for your keywords are the words of the most popular, most searched by Internet users. Maybe yes, they increase our traffic, but they can bring to it, in fact, people have no interest in our product. For example, where we offer services in a particular place, the positioning of the general phrase (which contains the names of cities) misses the target.
The best way to find the most appropriate keywords is to make a long list and turn them subject to exclusion, verification. Keywords we get:
- Using various tools available on the Internet,
- Viewing competition (eg, checking keywords in meta tags section)
- Asking your friends about what you typed in the search engine looking for information,
- Creating synonyms for words that we already have.
Remember also that in order to create a list of keywords to put in place Internet instead of writing only the words that you wpisałbyś searching your site. Therefore, it is important to use various sources of acquiring new ideas for keywords. When our list is already quite large, we can begin to eliminate less valuable words, and so in turn:
- Draw from the list of words that do not agree with our theme, offer, or are generalities,
- Remove the words that are too broad, for example, positioning Rents in Toronto lets take word „Rents Torronto” rather than a nationwide phrase „Rents” – For first: the competition for this phrase is very strong, for second: we offer rents just in Toronto, so that people seeking floats for example in Monteral will be probably not interested in our offer.
Then, using Google https: / / adwords.google.pl / select / KeywordToolExternal we can check how often phrases are searched for in the last month, what is the competition for these phrases and find hints of similar words. At the beginning should be rather busy to choose a phrase which can quickly bring even minimal traffic, and then after some time (when we have a domain to gain entry) to try increasingly difficult.
